Technology & Cybersecurity Executive | Enterprise Infrastructure, Security Operations & Business Transformation

I am a technology and cybersecurity executive with decades of experience leading enterprise infrastructure, IT operations, security operations, observability, business continuity, and organizational transformation.

My career has been built at the intersection of technology, security, and business strategy. I help organizations translate complex technical challenges into practical outcomes that improve resilience, reduce risk, strengthen operations, and support sustainable growth.

Today, I serve as Director of IT and Security Operations at Spectrotel, where I lead corporate IT and security operations across a diverse technology environment. My responsibilities encompass cybersecurity, enterprise infrastructure, identity and access management, monitoring and observability, automation, compliance, vendor strategy, incident response, and team development.

I have worked across numerous industries, including telecommunications, pharmaceutical, healthcare, food and beverage, banking and finance, technology, professional services, and accounting. That experience has taught me how to lead in regulated, operationally demanding environments where technology must remain closely aligned with business priorities.

Although I have spent much of my career in leadership, I have always remained technically engaged. I believe the strongest technology executives understand both the boardroom implications and the realities facing the people responsible for keeping systems secure, reliable, and available.

Leadership Philosophy

I believe effective technology leadership requires more than selecting platforms or managing projects. It requires understanding the business, building capable teams, establishing accountability, anticipating risk, and creating an environment in which people can grow.

My leadership approach is grounded in several principles:

Develop people and create opportunities for them to succeed

Remain accountable for outcomes, particularly during difficult situations

Lead with integrity, curiosity, and a willingness to remain hands-on when needed

I am particularly passionate about mentoring, building high-performing teams, and helping technical professionals understand the broader business impact of their work.

My Story

My relationship with technology began when I was 12 years old and started writing software and participating in the early bulletin board system community. At 14, I taught structured Pascal to adults. At 16, I began working professionally as a CICS programmer.

By 18, I had transformed my basement into a fully operational BBS platform serving more than 300 paying subscribers over a fractional T1 connection. That early experience taught me lessons in programming, infrastructure, customer service, entrepreneurship, and operational responsibility long before those disciplines became formal parts of my career.

At 20, I joined DataComm Warehouse, supporting enterprise systems while earning certifications in Novell NetWare, Microsoft Windows NT, and Lotus Notes. At 23, I joined McAfee as a virus reverse engineer, analyzing malicious code and expanding my experience with Linux, Unix, security research, and open-source technology.

My career subsequently progressed into senior technical and leadership positions with organizations including Chock Full o’ Nuts and Sara Lee, where I managed enterprise infrastructure, global technology deployments, HP-UX and Novell environments, Cisco networks, nationwide telecommunications, Sybase and EDI platforms, and ISO-related requirements.

As IT Manager at St. Barnabas Hospital, I helped modernize network and technology operations within a demanding healthcare environment. Later, as Director of IT at Withum, I led internal and client-facing technology teams, strengthened business continuity capabilities, and transformed IT operations within a prominent accounting and professional-services organization.

These were substantive enterprise leadership roles during a period when titles such as CIO and CISO were far less common and Director often represented significant executive authority and organizational responsibility.

Throughout my career, I have continued to evolve... from programming and infrastructure engineering to security operations, enterprise leadership, governance, automation, cloud technology, and business transformation. The technologies have changed dramatically, but my underlying motivation has remained consistent: understand how things work, solve meaningful problems, and leave systems and teams stronger than I found them.

These interests continually challenge me to think differently about systems, uncertainty, innovation, and the future of technology.
